Ray Nadeson is an artist, winemaker, mountaineer, and neuroscientist with a deep appreciation of art in all its manifestations. He values creativity in all his endeavours and has discovered painting as another means of self-expression and exploration.

My paintings are an exploration of evolution and change, both in the world around us and in the very act of creation. They are a testament to the way that art can evolve over time, building up layers of meaning and depth with each stroke, taking days, months and sometimes years to complete.

I mix oil paints with a homemade paste of beeswax and dry pigment, which imbues the work with a unique luminosity and complex texture. This creates a sense of depth and movement within the many layers of the artwork. The viewer is then able to explore the work from different plains and perspectives.

In creating these works, I often feel like an archaeologist delving into the intrinsic histories of the painting as I peel back layers of paint to reveal the rich complexity that lies beneath. My process is one of intuition, reacting to the evolving colours, textures, and forms that emerge on the canvas.

My work is heavily influenced by a variety of inputs, including music, nature, and the written word. I also draw inspiration from around me, finding splendour and meaning in the patterns and rhythms of nature.

In a world where change is constant and evolution is ongoing, I hope my art can serve as a reminder that we are all part of a larger process of growth and transformation. Through painting I undertake a journey of self-discovery where I find beauty in the process of change. I hope you can to.
